City of Irving Clean Water Week
Theme: WATER ODYSSEY
Due Date: Thursday, March 29
Every year, the City of Irving hosts Clean Water Week with an exhibition
and fair held downtown for all city residents to participate in.
The collect work from Irving elementary schools to use in advertisements
for the event.
We will be trying to work the theme into some of the lessons in art
classes. Students wishing to create their own entries may do so and
turn in to Mrs. Snyder with parental permission by March 29.
Guidelines:

Use 12x18" paper. Bright colors (dark crayon, paint, pastels, markers)

Stick to the theme of WATER ODYSSEY!

Be creative! Paper and permission forms are available in Mrs. Snyder's
art room.

TXU Energy Safety Poster Contest
Theme: Electricity and Natural Gas Safety
Due Date: March 29.
This contest is open to any student. We will not be participating
in Art Classes so individual effort is required.
Guidelines:

Posters must be original and deal with electrical or natural gas safety. Copyrighted cartoon characters, such as Bugs Bunny or Pokemon, may not be used in posters.

Entries must be horizontally drawn on a single 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of white paper or poster board. Please use bright colors.

Entries should be from individual K-12 students.

Student's name, grade, name of school attended, school district, school mailing address, zip code, teacher's name, and school phone number must be clearly recorded on back side of each poster.

The winning posters will be used in the calendar portion of the annual Energy Safety Catalog. Students and teachers will be identified on the calendar.

Theme: What I Want to be After College
Due Date: April 6.
This contest is open to any student. We will not be participating
in Art Classes so individual effort is required.
Guidelines:
-
Drawings must be on a plain sheet of white 8 1/2 by 11 paper and can be drawn in pencil, pen, crayon, watercolor, oil or water-based paint, or any onter medium that is not computer-generated.

All entries must have a fully completed Entry and Parental Release Form taped to the back of the entry. You can get these from Mrs. Snyder.

All entries must be turned in to Mrs. Snyder by Friday, April 6 or received by 5:00 pm on Moday, April 9, 2001 at the address listed on the entry form. Damaged or late posters will not be accepted. Determination of lost, damaged, or late entries will be made by the Texas Tomorrow Fund.

All entries become the property of the Texas Tomorrow Fund. All entrants and their parents or guardians agree to the Texas Tomorrow Fund's use of the drawings and names for future publications and for promotional display across the state of Texas.

Winners of the poster contest will be determined by a panel of judges with judging criteria based on originality, creativity, and consistency with thte theme.

Winners will be announced the week of April 23, 2001. A grand prize winner in each of the two age categories and in the IMSET category will be chosen to receive a four-year college scholarship covering tuition and required fees to any Texas public university or college. The winners may not transfer the scholarships to anyone else.

Family members and employees of the Texas Tomorrow Fund and Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts are not eligible to win.

No purchase necessary. You do not need to be present to win. This contest is void where prohibited.

To be eligible to enter the contest, a student must be a Texas resident and enrolled in a public, private, or home-based school at a grade level within one of the two categories.
